(FRANKLIN TWP., SOMERSET, NJ) – First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) and Harvest of Hope Family Services Network, Inc., today announced they will be sponsoring their second annual community fair/back-to-school block party on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
“This is a community fair for all central Jersey residents,” said Khristi Adams, FBCLG Youth Minister and the event’s coordinator. “It will include lots of food, fun and entertainment – including a DJ, the Fun Bus for kids, face painting and crafts, DARE motorcycles, basketball and much more!
“In addition, the Health Screening Van from St. Peter’s Hospital will be present, doing free comprehensive health screenings.”
The event will feature a concert by Frontlynaz, a Stellar Award nominated group that represents the new age of hip hop/RAP music. Frontlynaz has performed in a number of states along the east coast and recently for audiences in California. In addition to their ministry in the U.S., the group has performed in the West Indies and Nigeria and has developed a fan base in Singapore, Europe, Australia and Canada. Frontlynaz has shared the stage with a variety of artists such as Donnie McClurkin, The Katinas, Ki Ki Sheard, Cross Movement and Ty Tribbet. Their 2008 release, “GAMEOVER,” was recently nominated for a Stellar Gospel Award in the Best Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year category.
Minister Adams added that the community fair/block party is important because it offers community youth an opportunity to gather and celebrate the end of summer – while a successful, peaceable and non-violent start to their school year is being promoted.
The Zakee Bowser Foundation, headed by Gina Bower, will also be participating in the event by distributing backpacks and school supplies to FBCLG and other community youth. The foundation provides these items through its annual Back to School Supply Drive.
